Piracy, often called the ‘oldest trade afloat’. Upon every ocean and sea, pirates have been ready to plunder to rob, and to murder for profit. England has always been a nation of mariners, and the West Country has for centuries been one of the busiest parts of maritime England. It is natural, therefore, that a great many of the pirates of history have been English, and that a good proportion of those have been men of the West, operating from places such as Falmouth, Lulworth Cove, Fowey, Plymouth and Bristol.

No new posts Guinness World Record Attempt
How many Pirates can we fit onto the Promenade in Penzance, Cornwall. The record is held by Hastings with 6166 pirates but the people of Cornwall can beat that! It's the home of the Pirate...and not the singing kind...although we do carry a melodious tune! We need your help, One and All. We are aiming to not only break but shatter the current Guinness World Record for this event. Just look into the eyes of all our children and explain to them that Mummy and Daddy were too embarrassed to dress up and even attempt the record...for shame. It'll be so much fun that I challenge you to not enjoy yourselves! We look forward to seeing you on the day, and if any pirates from anywhere in the world would care to swell our ranks you'll be made most welcome.
